Bob McGovan Path - Clean The Walk
The Bob McGovan Path is situated along the pathway that is part of the Geelong Waterfront. It commences at the Western Beach Boat Club and finishes at Rippleside Park.
Bob McGovan (9/3/1935-23/1/1986) was a teacher with the State Education Department and whilst he was on the staff (Vice Principal - I think) of Norlane West Primary School he became a founding committee member of the Barwon Region Bike Ed group. The first Bike Ed group in Victoria. After Bob died the former Cities of Geelong and Geelong West agreed to name the Bike Path in his honour and the path was officially opened on the 22nd September, 1989
The Lions Club Of Geelong Breakfast has adopted this project with the support from the following organisations -
: City of Greater Geelong Councillor (Barb Abley)
: Environmental Officer (Ralph Roob)
: Greening Geelong West (Rosemary Nugent)
: Baclinks (Tracy Bull)
: Volunteer Geelong (Gail Rogers)
We hope to encourage further Corporate and Schools participation over time.
